Beautiful Day in the Eastern Market Neighborhood

Okay, not necessarily our immediate neighborhood, but our neighborhood in the larger sense of the word - the Lancaster one.  We just got back from a fantastic couple of hours spent at the Eastern Market and chatting with the Hamids.  If you haven't had Nowal Hamid's Falafel yet, you haven't yet lived.  I'm not kidding.

Here are the Hamids, sans Aya, their daughter who is about to graduate from high school... and three of their older children who are still in the Middle East.  Nowal is making her magic, Hamid is standing there because I asked him to so I could take a picture of them.  Otherwise, he'd be out wandering and chatting with everyone.  Mahmoud is their son, in the 8th grade.  Hamid decorated his stand with the produce, but apparently he was doing too good a job.  I heard him say a few times, "No, no, it's all for sale!"

Thanks, Kathan, for letting me take a picture of you with your uneaten falafel.  I don't know what my problem is, but I always take a few bites of something and then think, Oh!  I should take a picture of this!  ...as you can see on the right...  Anyway, look at the size of that thing - and for only $4.  A handful of utter deliciousness!

This is so great! Hamid refers to himself as the Picasso of Eastern Market!

That is a massive falafel, looks delish. I'm jealous of Kate, I want one too. Bet she probably hasn't even finished it yet.

Also, she doesn't look too much like a Kate, are you sure that the name is right? She looks more like a Kylie or Keisha or Kathan. Just saying....
