With the In-Laws

I'm in Minneapolis for a Bierker Thanksgiving. When I told folks I was spending the holiday with my in-laws, I got looks of sympathy. When I continued to say that I was traveling via flights the day before Thanksgiving, it turned into looks of pity. Now, the thing is that I have done the whole travel-the-day-before several times, and I have yet to have a horrible experience. Knock on wood. Yesterday wasn't any different. Okay, so we sat on the tarmac for 1/2 an hour, but that happens to me on my non-holiday travels.

That leaves the in-laws. Shocking as this may be, I actually like my in-laws. Of course, I'm only on Day 1 of the trip, so this may change. My father-in-law is a little rough around the edges. Okay, maybe more like jagged, but hey, he is the ultimate WYSIWYG. Underneath it all, he's a good-hearted old man, but he doesn't like people to know it. Mike and Lisa are generously hosting the clan; they are very good at this. There's alcohol and food. Enough said. It's 11AM, we've been easing into the T-day celebration with Bloody Marys. Yeah, man.

At the end of the day, their shower has awesome water pressure. If things get bad, I'll just hang out in the bathroom...
